Use this when you start school transport in EduHost, or when you add a new bus, stop or route. Set up buses and stops first, then build routes from them.

Before you start

  • Keep each bus's registration number and seat count ready.
  • Make a list of stops and how far each one is from school, in km.

Steps: add a bus

  1. Go to Transport → Buses.
  2. Click Add a vehicle.
  3. Fill in Registration number, Type and Seats.
  4. Add Make and Model if you want.
  5. Choose Owned or hired. For a hired bus, fill in Contractor.
  6. Click Save.

Steps: add a stop

  1. Go to Transport → Stops & fares.
  2. Click Add a stop.
  3. Type the Stop name and a Landmark.
  4. Fill in Distance from school (km). This decides the fare.
  5. Click Save.

Steps: add a route

  1. Go to Transport → Routes.
  2. Click Add a route.
  3. Type the Route name, for example "Route 1 — North". Add a Code if you use one.
  4. Pick the Bus for this route.
  5. Fill in the Driver and the Attendant (the adult who rides with the children).
  6. Click Save.
  7. Open the route and use Add a stop to this route. Pick from Choose a stop and click Add.
  8. Add all stops. Use Move earlier and Move later to put them in the order the bus reaches them.

Good to know

  • A route is one bus and its stops, in order.
  • Seats are used to show when a route has more riders than the bus can hold.
  • A route keeps running even while its bus is in the workshop.
  • The bus odometer moves forward on its own as trips and fuel fills are logged. See Trip log, fuel and servicing.
  • Fares come from the Distance circles on the Stops & fares page. Until a circle exists, no rider has a fare. See Charge transport fees.
  • To put students on a route, see Assign students to a bus.
