Use Broadcast when you want to tell parents something quickly, like a holiday, a meeting or a change in school timing. You write the message once, choose who gets it, and EduHost sends it by the channels you pick.
Before you start
- Your role must be allowed to open Broadcast. If you cannot see it, ask your school admin.
- Each channel (in-app, email, SMS, WhatsApp, push) can be switched on or off for your school. A channel that is off cannot send.
Steps
- Open Broadcast → Compose from the sidebar. You can also use New → Send message from the quick add menu.
- Choose who should get the message, for example the parents of one class or of the whole school.
- Write your message. Keep it short and clear.
- Pick the channels: in-app, email, SMS, WhatsApp or push. You can pick more than one.
- Check the message and the people who will get it.
- Press the send button.
See what you sent
- Open Broadcast → Sent.
- Here you see the messages your school has already sent.
Which channel to use
- In-app: parents see it in the parent portal under Messages from school and in the app.
- Push: a note on the parent's phone from the app.
- Email: goes to the parent's email address.
- SMS: reaches parents who do not use the app.
- WhatsApp: goes only to families who have agreed to get WhatsApp messages from the school.
Good to know
- If you send the same message often, save it once. See Save message templates.
- Some messages can go out by themselves, like an absent alert. See Automatic messages.
- To put something on the notice board instead, see Post a notice.
- For SMS sender ID and quiet hours, see SMS settings, sender ID and quiet hours.
- For WhatsApp replies and more, see Send WhatsApp messages to parents.
