EduHost can send some messages to families by itself when something happens, for example when a child is absent or a fee is due. Use this page to choose which of these automatic messages your school sends.

Before you start

  • You need a role that can open Broadcast. If you cannot see it, ask your school admin.
  • Automatic messages use the channels your school has turned on, such as in-app, email, SMS, WhatsApp or push. Check these in Broadcast → Settings.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, open Broadcast → Automatic.
  2. Look at the list of events. Each event is one kind of message, for example an absent alert or a fee reminder.
  3. Find the event you want to change.
  4. Use the switch next to it to turn it on or off.
  5. If the page asks you to save, click Save.
  6. Do the same for any other event you want to change.

Events you may see

  • Absent alert: tells parents when their child is marked absent.
  • Fee reminders: remind families about fees. Each reminder event has its own switch.
  • Admission confirmed: tells the family the admission is done.
  • Login created: tells the family their parent or student login is ready.

There are 10 events in total. Turn on only the ones your school wants.

Good to know

  • Turning an event off stops only that message. Other events keep working.
  • You can still send your own messages any time. See Send a message to parents (Broadcast).
  • WhatsApp messages go only to families who agreed to get them. Parents can turn WhatsApp off in the parent portal. See Send WhatsApp messages to parents.
  • To stop SMS at night, set quiet hours. See SMS settings, sender ID and quiet hours.
