PF, ESI, PT and TDS are deductions that the law may ask you to take from staff salaries. EduHost lets you switch each one on or off, so payroll only takes the deductions your school needs.
Before you start
- You need a role that can open Payroll. If you see "This page isn't part of your role", ask your school owner. They can change this under Roles & Permissions.
- Set up salary structures for your staff first. See the article Set up salary structures.
- Know which deductions apply to your school. If you are not sure, ask your accountant.
Steps
- In the sidebar, go to Staff → Payroll.
- Open the payroll settings where the statutory deductions are listed.
- Find PF. Switch it on if your school takes PF. Switch it off if it does not.
- Do the same for ESI.
- Do the same for PT.
- Do the same for TDS.
- Click Save. Wait until you see Saved.
Check one staff member
- Go to Staff → Directory.
- Open a staff member.
- Look at the Salary part. It shows Gross, Deductions and Net pay.
- If you see "No salary structure set.", give this person a salary structure first.
Good to know
- Each switch works on its own. You can turn on PF and leave ESI off, for example.
- Check these switches before you run payroll for the month. See Run payroll and share payslips.
- Staff with a login can see their own payslips, with the deductions, in their self-service area.
- Pay cut for absent days is a different setting. See Loss of pay from attendance and leave.
