Loss of pay from attendance and leave

Turn on loss of pay so salaries are cut for unpaid days, based on staff attendance and leave records.

Loss of pay (LOP) means a staff member is paid less for days they were not at work and did not have paid leave. Use this if you want EduHost to work out these cuts for you when you run payroll each month.

Before you start

  • Each staff member needs a salary structure. If their profile says No salary structure set., see the article Set up salary structures.
  • Staff attendance should be marked for the month in Staff → Attendance.
  • Leave requests should be approved or rejected in Staff → Leave.

Turn on loss of pay

  1. In the sidebar, open Staff → Payroll.
  2. Find the payroll setting for loss of pay.
  3. Switch it on.
  4. Click Save.

To stop pay cuts, switch the same setting off and save again.

How it is counted

When the switch is on, EduHost looks at each staff member's attendance and leave records for the month. Days that are not covered by attendance or paid leave can reduce their pay in the monthly payroll run.

Because the cut comes from these records, it is only as correct as your attendance and leave. A missed attendance mark or a leave request left waiting can change a salary.

Check the result

  1. Run payroll for the month. See the article Run payroll and share payslips.
  2. Look at the Net pay for each staff member before you share payslips.
  3. If a figure looks wrong, fix the attendance or leave record first, then check the payroll again.

Good to know

  • Leave balances for each person are on their staff profile under Leave balances.
  • Half-day leave is supported in Leave.
  • PF, ESI, PT and TDS are separate settings. See the article PF, ESI, PT and TDS.
  • If the switch is off, attendance and leave do not reduce pay.
