Teachers and staff ask for leave from My HR. Their requests wait for you on the Leave page, with a number beside it in the menu. Use this page to set up leave types and to decide each request.

Set up leave types

  1. Open Leave in the menu and choose the Staff tab. You can also use Staff → Leave.
  2. If you see No leave types yet, click Set up leave types to add Casual, Sick and Earned leave.
  3. To add or change a type, click Leave types, then Add a type or Edit.
  4. Type the Name and the Days a year. Untick Paid for leave without pay.
  5. Tick Paid out when they leave if unused days should be paid in the full-and-final settlement. Click Save.

Decide a request

  1. Click the Waiting card to see only requests that need a decision.
  2. Check the type, the dates, the days and the reason.
  3. Click Approve, or click Not approve and confirm.

If the person does not have enough leave left, EduHost tells you. You can still click Approve anyway. The extra days are unpaid and cut from pay, unless you tick Keep these days paid.

Record leave someone asked for in person

  1. Click Record leave for staff.
  2. Search for the Staff member and pick the Leave type.
  3. Pick the From and To dates, or tick Half a day for one half day.
  4. Add a Reason if you want, and click Apply.

Good to know

  • To take back approved leave, click Cancel leave. The days go back to the person's balance.
  • If a request shows In approvals, it is going through approval steps. Decide it on the Approvals page. See Set up multi-step leave approval.
  • After you approve a teacher's leave, EduHost may tell you which periods need cover and offer to open substitutions.
  • The Students tab on the same page holds leave that parents asked for their children.
  • Staff see each request's status in My HR.
