Add the syllabus

The syllabus is the list of what a class will study in one subject. You split it into units, give each unit planned dates, and add topics inside each unit. Do this at the start of the year, before teachers write lesson plans.

Before you start

• The class and the subject must already be set up in EduHost.
• Keep your syllabus book or board list nearby so you can copy the units and topics.

Add a unit

1. In the sidebar, open Teaching → Syllabus.
2. Choose the class.
3. Under Subject, pick the subject. A syllabus belongs to one subject in one class.
4. If you see No syllabus yet for this subject, click Add to start a new unit.
5. In Unit, type the unit name, for example Unit 1 — Numbers.
6. In Planned from, choose the date the class should start this unit.
7. In Planned to, choose the date the class should finish it.
8. Choose the sections. Leave it on all sections when the plan is the same for all of them.
9. Click Save.

Repeat these steps for each unit in the subject.

Add topics to a unit

1. Find the unit in the list. A new unit shows No topics in this unit yet.
2. Click Add a topic.
3. Type the topic name, for example Rounding to the nearest ten.
4. Click Save.
5. Add the next topic in the same way until the unit is complete.

Good to know

• The planned dates are used to show whether the class is behind.
• To fix a mistake, use Edit. To take something out, use Remove.
• When teachers write lesson plans, they can pick a Syllabus unit. This links the lesson to what the class is working through. See Write lesson plans.
