A lesson plan helps you get ready for a class. Write what you will teach, how the lesson will run and what you need. After the class, mark the plan as taught.
Before you start
- To link a lesson to the syllabus, add the syllabus for that subject first. See the article Add the syllabus.
- If the page does not open for you, ask your school admin. They can change what your role can do under Roles & Permissions.
Steps
- In the sidebar, go to Teaching → Lesson plans.
- Choose the class. Under Subject, pick the subject.
- Click the button to add a new lesson plan.
- In Date, choose the day you will teach it.
- In Lesson, type a short name, for example "Rounding to the nearest ten".
- In Syllabus unit, choose the unit. This links the lesson to what the class is working through.
- Choose the sections. Leave it on all sections when the plan is the same for all of them.
- In What they should be able to do, write what students should learn.
- In How the lesson runs, write the steps of your lesson.
- In What you need, list books, apparatus or a video.
- In Homework to set, write a note to yourself.
- Click Save.
After the lesson
- Click Mark taught on the plan once you have taught it.
- Marked it by mistake? Click Undo.
- To change a plan, click Edit. To delete it, click Remove.
Good to know
- Homework to set is only a note for you. It does not give homework to students. Set the real homework in Homework.
- If you see No lesson plans yet, no plan has been saved for this subject.
- To tell families what the class did each day, use the class diary. See Fill the class diary.
- To share notes, links or files with students, see Share study materials.
