Add holidays to the school calendar

Add holidays to the EduHost school calendar so staff, families and website visitors know when school is closed.

Getting startedUpdated 17 Oct 20262 min read

The school calendar keeps your holidays and events in one place. Add your holidays at the start of the year so everyone knows which days the school is closed. Holidays on the calendar also show on your school website.

Before you start

  • Keep your holiday list for the year ready, with the date or dates of each holiday.
  • Check that the correct academic year is chosen at the top of the app. A past year is read-only.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, open Calendar. You can also open it from the dashboard: under Quick actions, press School calendar.
  2. Choose to add a new entry to the calendar.
  3. In Title, type the name of the holiday, for example "Diwali".
  4. In Type, choose Holiday.
  5. Pick the day the holiday starts and the day it ends. For a one-day holiday, pick the same day for both.
  6. In Audience, choose who should see it.
  7. If you want, add a short note in Notes.
  8. Press Save.
  9. Do the same for each holiday on your list.

Good to know

  • The calendar is not only for holidays. You can also add exams, meetings, activities and other events. Choose the right Type for each one.
  • Holidays coming soon show on the dashboard in the Coming up card. Press Open calendar there to see the full calendar.
  • On a holiday, the dashboard shows that day as a holiday, and teachers see the name of the holiday on their own dashboard.
  • Holidays on the calendar also show on your school website, so parents and visitors can see them.
  • Made a mistake? Open the entry on the calendar to change it, or press Delete to remove it.
  • The calendar is always on. You do not need to switch it on in modules.
  • Setting up a new year? See Start a new academic year first, then add that year's holidays.
