A late fine is an extra charge for fees paid after the due date. EduHost lets your school turn late fines on or off. Use this if you want to charge a fine, or if you want to stop charging one.

Before you start

  • Your fees must have due dates. These come from your fee structure and installments. If you have not done this yet, read Build a fee structure first.
  • You need permission to change fee setup. If you cannot open the page, ask your school admin. They can change what your role can do under Roles & Permissions.

Turn on late fines

  1. In the sidebar, open Fees → Fee setup.
  2. Find the late fine setting on this page.
  3. Switch late fines on.
  4. Fill in the fine rule the screen asks for.
  5. Check the details once more.
  6. Click Save. You will see Saved when it is done.

Good to know

  • Late fines are optional. If you do not switch them on, no fine is charged.
  • To see who is late with fees, open Fees → Unpaid. The dashboard also shows Late fees and Overdue fees.
  • To lower fees for some children instead, read Add discounts and scholarships.
  • Before you change the fine rule in the middle of a year, tell parents. A short message from Broadcast → Compose can help.
  • If you are not sure how a fine was worked out on a bill, ask the EduHost team from the Help button.
