EduHost can hold back things in the parent portal when a family has unpaid fees. Use this if your school wants parents to clear overdue fees before they can see their child's results or the portal.
Before you start
- Your bills must have due dates. A fee counts as overdue once its due date has passed.
- If you want parents to pay from the portal, set up online payment first. See Let parents pay fees online.
- Results must be published to families for the hold to matter.
Steps
- Open Fees in the sidebar.
- Go to the fee settings page.
- Find the switch for holding results or the portal when dues are unpaid.
- Turn the switch on.
- Click Save.
To stop holding results, come back to the same switch, turn it off and click Save.
What parents see
In the parent portal, the result page shows a short note instead of the result. It says the child's result is on hold until the overdue fees are paid, and it shows the amount owed.
The parent can pay from the Fees part of the portal. Once the overdue fees are paid, the result opens straight away.
Good to know
- Only overdue fees count. Fees that are not yet due do not hold anything.
- If online payment is not set up, parents see a note asking them to pay at the school office.
- To see which families owe money, use See dues and defaulters.
- To remind families before you hold results, use Send fee reminders.
- Students who have left the school can still see their fees, receipts and results in the portal.
