Sometimes a student must sit an exam again. This can be a reassessment or a compartment exam, often after failing a subject. EduHost keeps these re-exams inside the Exams module, next to the main exam and its marks.

Before you start

  • The main exam should already exist, with marks entered. See the article Enter marks.
  • You need a role that can work with exams. If a page says This page isn't part of your role, ask your school admin. They can change this under Roles & Permissions.
  • Re-exams are a part of Exams that can be made optional. If you cannot find them, ask your school admin or EduHost support.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, open Exams → Exams.
  2. Open the exam that the student needs to sit again.
  3. Find the option to set up a re-exam (reassessment or compartment) for that exam.
  4. Choose the student or students who will sit the re-exam.
  5. After the re-exam, enter the new marks in the same way you enter normal marks.
  6. Check the result, then share it with families. See the article Publish results and report cards.

Fixing a re-exam from a past year

A past academic year is normally read-only. When the school is correcting a past year, the screen shows a message like Correcting followed by the year name. In this mode you can change marks, re-exams, results, report cards and attendance. Everything else stays read-only.

Good to know

  • Families see results only after the school publishes them.
  • If the school holds results for unpaid fees, a parent sees a note that the result is on hold until overdue fees are paid.
  • To add re-exam marks into a combined result, see the article Combine marks from many exams.
