Periods are the time slots of your school day, like Period 1 or Lunch. Set them up first. The class routine and teacher routine use these slots.
Before you start
- Write down your school day on paper: each period, each break, and their start and end times.
- If you cannot open this page, your role may not include it. Ask your school admin. They can change this under Roles & Permissions.
Add a teaching period
- In the sidebar, go to Timetable → Periods.
- Click Add slot.
- In Name, type a name, for example "Period 1".
- In Order, enter where this slot comes in the day.
- Choose Teaching.
- Enter the Start and End times.
- Click Save.
Repeat these steps for every period in the day.
Add a break
A break is recess or lunch. No classes happen in this time, on every day.
- On the Periods page, click Add break.
- Type a Name, for example "Recess".
- Enter the Start and End times.
- Click Save.
You can also add a slot with Add slot and choose Break (recess / lunch, no classes).
Good to know
- If you see No period slots configured., no slots are set up yet. Start with Add slot.
- If you see All slots are breaks — add a teaching period., add at least one Teaching slot. Classes can only be placed in teaching slots.
- A break applies to every day of the week.
- When your periods are ready, read Build the class routine to put subjects and teachers into each period.
- If a teacher is away, see Arrange a substitute teacher.
