Use the Subjects pages to keep a list of every subject your school teaches. Then choose which of those subjects each class studies. Do this at the start of the year, or when you add a new subject.
Before you start
- Add your classes first on the Classes page. If you see Add your classes first (Classes page)., no classes exist yet.
- A class can only get subjects that are already in the subject list. If you see Add subjects first in the Subjects tab., add them there first.
Add a subject to the list
- Open Subjects → Subjects.
- Click Add subject.
- Type the Name, for example Mathematics.
- Type a short Code, for example MATH.
- Choose the Type.
- If students can choose this subject, tick Optional / elective subject.
- Save the subject.
If you are just starting, you can use Add usual subjects to add common subjects in one go, instead of typing each one.
Choose the subjects for a class
- Open Subjects → Class subjects.
- Pick the class under Select class.
- Add the subjects this class studies from your subject list.
- Check the Full and Pass marks shown for each subject.
- To take a subject off this class, click Remove.
When your changes are kept, you will see Saved.
Good to know
- If a class shows No subjects set for this class, its subjects are not added yet. Add them in the Class subjects tab.
- A subject marked Elective is one that only some students take. See the article Electives and subject combinations.
- To choose who teaches each subject, see Assign teachers to subjects.
- In colleges and coaching centres, classes may be called courses or batches.
