Use the Assign teachers page to set who teaches each subject in a class. Do this when the school year starts, or when a teacher's subjects change.
Before you start
- Your classes must be added. If you see No classes yet., add them on the Classes page first.
- Teachers must be added. If you see No teachers yet — add teaching staff in Staff first., add them in Staff first.
- The class must have its subjects. If you see No subjects set for this class — add them in the Class subjects tab., add them in Subjects → Class subjects. The article "Manage subjects" explains how.
Steps
- In the sidebar, open Subjects → Assign teachers.
- Under Select class, pick the class you want to set up.
- You now see the subjects of that class. A subject with no teacher shows Unassigned.
- Next to a subject, choose the teacher who teaches it in this class.
- Do the same for each subject in the class.
- Check that Saved appears, so you know the change is stored.
- Pick the next class and repeat.
Good to know
- The teacher you choose is for the selected class only. The same subject can have a different teacher in another class.
- One teacher can teach many subjects and many classes.
- When a new academic year is made, EduHost may show a note saying how many teacher assignments were copied to the new year's classes. Some are not copied: for example, when there is no class of that name, the teacher has left, or a teacher is already set. Open Subjects → Assign teachers and check every class.
- For optional subjects and student subject groups, see "Electives and subject combinations".
- If you cannot open this page, ask your school admin. They can change what your role can do under Roles & Permissions.
