After students hand in an online test, EduHost marks many answers for you. Use this page to see who sat the test, mark any answers the machine could not mark, and leave a note for the student.

How marking works

  • Auto marking: EduHost checks answers against the Answer key you gave when you made the question. For short answers, it accepts any answer you listed. Case and spacing do not matter.
  • Negative marks: if you set Negative marks on a question, a wrong answer can lose marks. Blank answers are never penalised.
  • Manual marking: some answers need you to read them and give marks yourself.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, under Exams, open Online Tests.
  2. Open the test you want to mark.
  3. Go to Who sat it to see the list of students.
  4. Open one student's paper.
  5. If you see The machine settled all of this one., EduHost has marked every answer. You do not need to do anything more.
  6. If an answer still needs marking, read it and type the marks in the Marks box.
  7. If you want, write a short note in A word back.
  8. Click Save the marks.
  9. Do the same for the next student.

Good to know

  • If a paper shows The clock ran out, the student's time ended and EduHost handed in the paper for them. Every answer they gave was saved.
  • Students see their marks based on the When they see their marks setting you chose when you made the test. Until then, they see a message that the teacher will release the marks.
  • When marks are out, the student sees their score, the right answer, and your note from A word back. They also see the Explanation you added to each question.
  • To build a test, read Create an online test. To see the student's side, read How students take an online test.
