A term is a part of your school year, such as a first term and a second term. Use the Terms page to add your school's terms before you set up exams.

Before you start

  • Decide how your school divides the year, and what each term is called.
  • Check the academic year at the top of the app. A past year is read-only, so make sure you are working in the current year.
  • If you do not see the page, ask your school admin. They can change what your role can do under Roles & Permissions.

Steps

  1. In the sidebar, go to Exams → Terms.
  2. Look at the list to see which terms are already there.
  3. Choose to add a new term.
  4. Fill in the details of the term.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Repeat for each term in your school year.

If the form shows a message about things to fix before saving, correct those fields and click Save again.

Good to know

  • A good order for exam setup is: terms first, then grade scales, then exams. See Set up grade scales and Create an exam and its schedule.
  • Terms, grade scales and result rules are a basic part of the Exams module.
  • If you leave the page with changes not saved, the app warns you that you have unsaved changes.
