Sometimes another school, a college or an office wants to know if a certificate from your school is real. EduHost lets them check it online, so they do not need to call your office.

How it works

  • When you issue a certificate in EduHost, it carries the words Verify this certificate and a Code:.
  • The person who receives the certificate uses this to check it online.
  • They can see if the certificate was issued by your school.
  • If your school has cancelled the certificate, they see Cancelled · not valid.

This works for the certificates you issue under Certificates, such as the transfer certificate, bonafide, character and migration certificates.

Cancel a certificate that is no longer valid

If a certificate was given by mistake, cancel it. After that, anyone who checks it is told it is not valid.

  1. Open Exams → Certificates in the sidebar.
  2. Look in Recently issued and find the certificate.
  3. Click Cancel next to it.
  4. Give the reason, for example Issued in error / student returned.
  5. Confirm. The certificate now shows as Cancelled.

Undo a cancel

  1. Find the cancelled certificate in Recently issued.
  2. Click Restore.
  3. The certificate is valid again, and the online check shows it as valid.

Good to know

  • Always give the full printed certificate, with the code, to the family. The code is what others use to check it.
  • Never write a new code by hand on a certificate. Issue it again from EduHost if something is wrong.
  • If a student comes back after taking a TC, cancel the old TC so it cannot be used anywhere else.
  • To learn how to issue certificates, see Issue a transfer certificate (TC) and Bonafide, character and migration certificates.
