Use the front desk pages to keep a record of everyone who comes into the school, and of every child who leaves early. This helps you know who is inside the school at any time.
Before you start
- You need permission to use the front desk. If you cannot see Front desk in the sidebar, ask your school admin. They can give it to your role under Roles & Permissions.
Log a visitor
- In the sidebar, open Front desk → Visitors.
- Start a new visitor entry.
- Fill in the visitor's details.
- Save the entry.
- When the visitor leaves, open their entry and mark that they have left.
You can also start from the dashboard. Under Quick actions, tap Sign in a visitor.
Give a gate pass
Use a gate pass when a child has to leave school early.
- In the sidebar, open Front desk → Gate passes.
- Start a new gate pass.
- Choose the child and fill in the details.
- Save the gate pass.
- When the child comes back, open the gate pass and mark that they returned.
From the dashboard, you can also tap Issue gate pass under Quick actions.
Good to know
- The Front desk card on the dashboard shows Visitors inside and Children out on a gate pass right now.
- If a child is still out from an earlier day, it shows in Things to do today. If they came back, mark it. If not, call the family.
- To book meetings or record complaints, see the article Appointments and complaints.
